How To Clean Your Kamado Grill
It is everyone’s favorite time of the year, time to dust off the Duluth Forge Kamado Grill to start grilling and begin BBQ season. Inviting your friends over and cooking up some delicious food is a great way to spend time in the warmer weather. Before hosting your first BBQ of the season, you will need to be sure your grill has been properly cleaned. A properly cleaned kamado grill helps improve the cooking process.
A great feature to a kamado grill is that these grills can retain heat very well which helps when cleaning the grill. When you are beginning to clean your grill the first thing you will need to do is start a fire with your lump charcoal at the bottom of the grill. After that is done be sure to add the pizza stone and rack on top before closing the lid. Once the lid is closed you will need to let the grill heat up to 650 degrees Fahrenheit. This will need to heat for thirty minutes.
Once your grill has been at 650 degrees Fahrenheit for thirty minutes you can open the vent and let the grill begin to cool. This step is best done overnight so it can cool completely. Once your kamado grill has cooled, begin removing the pizza stone and grill rack to clean out the charcoal. When the charcoal has been cleaned out carefully remove the ceramic insert and dispose of the remaining ash.
Using a bristle brush, brush down all the parts of your Duluth Forge Kamado Grill to get rid of any remaining burnt ashes that are stuck on the grill. Once you have brushed down all the parts of the grill, use a shop vacuum to remove any remaining ash stuck inside. When everything has been brushed down and vacuumed you can reassemble and wipe down your kamado grill. It is very important to not use water on your kamado grill, water can be damaging to these ceramic inserts.
Now that the grill has been cleaned you are ready to host your first BBQ of the season!
