Fourth of July- BBQ Recipes
The Fourth of July is not complete without delicious food to enjoy. Dusting off the Duluth Forge Kamado Grill and grilling up food is always a great start to a Fourth of July. We have a few recipes and even a desert you can try and cook on your Kamado grill!
BBQ Ribs with Blackberry Sauce
Turn on your Duluth Forge Kamado Grill and bring it up to heat. While your grill is heating blend blackberries, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, salt, and pepper. This will be your sauce for the ribs. Place your mixture in a saucepan and simmer on medium heat stirring occasionally for 10-12 minutes or until sauce thickens. Once sauce thickens place your Ribs on your Kamado Grill and heat meaty side up or until brown. Typically, this can take anywhere between 40 – 50 minutes. For the best results do not open the lid on your Kamado grill while the ribs are cooking. Once that is done baste the top of the ribs with sauce and then turn it over to baste the other half with sauce and let it cook for 10 minutes. Once done let the meat rest then cut and serve!
Grilled Street Corn
This dish can make a delicious side dish for any BBQ. First, you will want to heat up your Duluth Forge Kamado Grill and bring it to temperature. While the gill is heating up combine mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic, cotija cheese, and chili powder. Next be sure to remove all the corn husks. Once your grill is properly heated add the corn to the grill and heat for about 15 minutes or until its cooked through. Once they are properly grilled remove the corn from the grill and spoon the cheese mixture over the hot ears of corn. For toppings squeeze fresh lime juice and sprinkle with additional cheese and chopped cilantro then serve and enjoy!
Stars and Stripe Pie
Finally, we have a desert dish for anyone with a sweet tooth! For the dough combine all-purpose flour, unsalted butter, salt, sugar, and water. Combine in a food processor or blender. Split the dough in half and chill for 30 minutes. Once chilled roll out one of the dough balls over a pie tin, then pinch the edges to form a decorative shell. Then brush the pie crust with whisked egg yolk and place in the refrigerator. The second split dough will be used to cut out stars and stripes for the top of the pie. A cookie cutter would be the best things to use for the stars. Once finished transfer them to a baking sheet brush them with egg yolk mixture and then bake them for 8 -10 minutes.
For the filling you will need to combine strawberries, lemon juice, corn starch, and sugar, this will be placed on ¾ of the pie. Next combine blueberries, lemon juice, cornstarch, and sugar and add it to the remaining ¼ of the pie. Bake the pie in the oven at 350 degrees or on your Kamado grill until the pie is browned. This will take about 30 – 45 minutes. Top the pie off with the starts over the blueberries and the stripes over the strawberries then serve.
